Indoor Track wins four at Fazoli's Invitational

Four wins highlighted SBU's indoor track and field performance at the Fazoli's/Baymont Inn Invitational, on the campus of Missouri Southern this weekend. Both the men's and women's squads earned a pair of wins, with SBU sweeping the 600 yard dash, with sophomore Katie Dusenburg (1:28.50) winning for the women, while junior Nathaniel Rogers (1:15.22) won the men's event.
Along with Dusenburg's win, freshman sprinter Corie Chuning earned her first collegiate win in the 200m dash (26.71) Dusenburg followed behind Chuning and finished 7th (27.24). Chuning continued to give a top performance in the 60m dash, finishing fourth (7.97, a personal best), and second among MIAA runners in a meet that was stocked with talent from within the conference. Among other top finishes for the women included Chelsea Strahm's sixth place finish (11:03.74) in the 3000m run, as well as Mandy Brady coming in seventh in the 800m run (2:23.93).
On the men's side, SBU dominated the 600 yard run, with a 1-3-5 finish. Finishing behind Rogers was senior Jesse Kueker in third (1:16.44) and freshman Aaron Williams in fifth (1:18.42).
Shawn Etzenhouser provisionally qualified for nationals in the 800m run with a winning time of 1:54.35, finishing almost two seconds ahead of the closest MIAA runner. Will Hansen (1:59.80) finished with a sixth place result in the same event. Two other highlights came from the distance runners, with freshman Phillip Miller running a personal best and finishing fourth in the 3000 meters (8:51.27), and Josh Rollins coming in seventh in the mile (4:26.53).
Two other personal records came from the field events, where Stephan Albin's 1.97 meter jump netted him 10th place, and Gerry Berra throw of 14.01 meters in the shot put earned him ninth.The SBU men's 4x400 relay team of J.T. Goins, Kueker, Rogers, and Etzenhouser finished fourth (3:27.69), and second to Central Missouri out of the conference schools.
The two squads jump right back into action next week, at the Central Missouri Mule Relays. The women's meet is scheduled for Friday, February 5th, while the men will compete on Saturday, February 6th.
