The theatre department is in full swing as it prepares for its upcoming productions, "Godspell" and "Doubt."
The theatre department will present "Godspell," March 10-14. The show will feature freshmen Jeff Young, Dani Petersohn; sophomores Sam Thomas, Amy Marrs, Patrick Mattia, Levi Fox; juniors David Ezzell, Alyssa Phinney, Lauren Potts and senior Adam Keller.
"Godspell" is based on the Gospel of Matthew with some references from Luke. The show is one of the best off-Broadway and Broadway performances. The score features songs created by Stephen Schwartz including the international hit, "Day By Day." The performance features various theatric methods including charades and pantomime.
"Doubt" will be performed April 29-May 1. Doubt was created by John Patrick Shanley in 2004. In the production, Sister Aloysius Beauvier is the principal of the St. Nicholas school. She is very conservative in nature and becomes suspicious of Father Flynn and the relationship he has with a young boy.
The theatre department also hopes to have a new ticketing system running by Feb. 22. This system will allow students, faculty and others to visit the website to purchase tickets and alleviate the printer problems they currently have.
"Before this new system, if you came to the window to buy a ticket, you'd have to wait for two other people to buy tickets before your ticket would print," said assistant professor of theatre Dr. Elissa Sartwell.
"Best of all, though, the new system will allow students to buy tickets online, using a credit card or debit card. Students will be able to pull up a seating chart of the theatre and they'll be able to select the seats they want to buy, much like the seating chart of an airplane when you buy tickets online."
