'Cats claw back to defeat Lions 3-2

Senior Kelsey Stewart was a stand-out leader in the match and was recognized in the game as SBU's only senior on Senior Day. Stewart, freshman Alex Smith, and junior Ashley Jurgensmeyer led the Bearcats with 14 kills each.
After barely losing the second set, the Bearcats started the third with a 7-1 advantage. SBU's lead grew to 12 points. The set was closed by the Bearcats with a 25-23 victory.
In the fourth and final set Pitt. State claimed an early lead. The Gorillas kept control of the last set 25-10 to close out the match 3-1.
Previously, on Nov. 13 the Bearcats hosted the Missouri Southern Lions and in five sets earned their first home victory. Senior Kelsey Stewart led SBU with 16 kills. SBU took sets one, four, and five. Junior Brianna Wallace led on defense with 54 assists and junior Lauren Noble had 31 digs.
In the first set the Bearcats lead early on 7-1 and closed the set 25-10. After losing the second and third set, the Bearcats took control over the fourth and fifth sets 25-18 and 15-12.
SBU closed the season 12-24 and 5-15 in the MIAA.
