Southwest Baptist Bearcat baseball third baseman junior Justin Barnhart has been to the CoSIDA "ESPN The Magazine" Academic All-District VII first team.
Barnhart, from St. Charles, carries a 3.95 GPA in biology/pre-medicine.
He started in all 50 games this season for the Bearcats, and led the team in stolen bases and walks and was second in runs scored and doubles.
Last season he earned All-MIAA second team as utility player and led SBU in runs, at-bats and stolen bases.
He is a graduate of Francis Howell North High School and the son of Steve and Susan Barnhart.
With his selection to the first team, Barnhart is now eligible for the CoSIDA "ESPN The Magazine" Academic All-American team.
"This is a tremendous honor for Justin and our program," said Head Coach Sam Berg. "He typifies the term student-athlete. He is a hard worker, both on the field and in the classroom."
CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America) was founded in 1957. There were 102 members at the original meetings; since that time, CoSIDA has grown to over 2,300 members in the United States and Canada.
