The key to marketing and making money is relationships.
Relationships pervade the field of marketing so much that senior Aaron Streeter cites the name of the group (Infinity) as a term emphasizing relationships.
Infinity Advertising Group works with various local business and organizations such as Capstone Insurers inc., Missouri Baptist Credit Union, and the Polk County Humane Society.
The group is comprised of students majoring in Marketing, Graphic Design, Public Relations and Business Management.
The different majors bring their expertise to the group in order learn group oriented working skills and to utilize their skills to offer free services to local businesses.
At weekly meetings the group discusses personal experiences, marketing techniques and future plans.
The group is designed for a variety of students with different majors that can be used in marketing.
"Marketing is so emphasized in Graphic Design, it's cool to bring the two together," said Streeter.
Streeter and senior Bobby McMillin laid the groundwork for the group after realizing that Marketing and Graphic design students needed a way to practice their skills, which will be used in a job setting.
Many local businesses have already contacted them about their marketing needs.
When the agency receives a request from a local business or organization, two members are assigned to the client.
The two talk with the organization to assess their needs and expectations.
Upon receiving the proper information the two account managers bring the information to the entire group for discussion.
The team works together to divulge the information and create a plan.
"Group-oriented work can be very creative," said Streeter. "It would be too much work for one person."
The team is working with the Polk County Humane Society to promote a dog race on Oct. 18.
The purpose of the event is to raise money for a new shelter.
The shelter, once a "no kill" shelter, has grown out of its housing facilities and has started euthanizing dogs that are not adopted by a certain time.
For more information about Infinity Advertising Group visit a weekly meeting held at 8 p.m. on Tuesday. The group meets in the conference room of the Gene Taylor National Free Enterprise Center.
