As the end of the season approaches for the Southwest Baptist volleyball team, the Lady Bearcats struggled to finish off the season on a good note as they faced-off against the fourth-ranked team in the nation.
SBU traveled to Topeka, Kan. for their last match of the 2007 season to take on Washburn. After falling short of their goal of making the post season conference tournament, SBU struggled at the hands of the Lady Blues, falling to them in three games (20-30, 16-30, 16-30).
SBU hit a season low percentage of .049. Sophomores Kinsey Palmer and Brittni Jessen led the Lady 'Cats with seven kills a piece. Junior Shyrah Perry led the team with 10 digs, and senior Chelsea Kenney finished off her senior year with 14 assists.
At the end of the regular season SBU led the MIAA conference in total digs with 2,236, an average of 20.14 per game, almost a full dig higher per game than second-place Missouri Southern.
Perry finished fourth in the conference in digs, and Kenney finished the season eighth in assists. Kenney also still stands as the only person in the MIAA conference to record a triple-double in one match, let alone the eight matches in which she recorded the feat this season.
