Southwest Baptist University%s Student Government Association kicked off the semester with another round of Assassins, Monday, Sept. 18.
Assassins is a game of skill and good timing. The object of the game is to ikill% the person on the card given to each student.
A medley of young, aspiring assassins looking to make their mark as the realest killers came to the informational meeting Sunday, Sept. 17. After a short discourse, the assassins were issued their weapons.
Here is how this game is conducted without fatalities. Each participating student is given a target card with the name of another player and their weapon, a Baptist issued, semi-automatic brightly colored water gun.
Students used any means necessary to identify their target. Facebook and MySpace were popular choices. Since assassins could not shoot their targets indoors and they could only use the watergun provided, students had to be creative in their endeavors.
Camping outside their dorm and obtaining a detailed list of their classes were some methods of ikilling% their targets.
Outside, students were fairgame to assassins unless they were participating in intramurals or on an SBU athletic team or working on the SBU grounds crew and once off campus, students could be assassinated anywhere at any time.
Once assassinated, a target was required to give their target card to their assassinator. It was then their job to move on to the next target. Each card obtained was worth one point, and cards marked with a Bearcat paw were worth two.
The game ends Friday, Sept. 22 at noon. There will be a meeting / awards ceremony at 7 p.m. in the Davis Theatre in Goodson Student Union. Winners will receive cash prizes. The first place assassin will receive $100, second place will receive $50 and third place will receive $25.
