Senior Cassandra Waterman, has been selected as a winner in the 2006 Art Graphic Design Award competition by a nationwide panel of judges.
The winning poster entry, "Little Shop of Horrors" was developed in Spring 2006 for Southwest Baptist University's theatre department through an advanced Department of Art Internship course instructed by Assistant Professor of Art John Gruber. Gruber also served as art director for the project. The former director of SBU Theatre, Dr. Greg Fiebig, served as the client for the project.
In its 44th year, The American Graphic Design Awards competition is one of the most selective in the country. The competition is open to everyone in the community: advertising agencies, design firms, corporate, institutional and publishing inhouse departments and more. It honors outstanding new work of all kinds: print, packaging, point-of-purchase, internet, interactive and motion graphics.
The American Design Awards was founded in 2000 by design professional and educator Brandon McKay, as well as graphic designers Kevin and Art Javid of San Diego, Calif. Their mission was not to only provide the graphic and web design community (domestic and international) with a legitimate and accessible design awards program, but more importantly educating graphic artists worldwide on the importance of upholding and practicing ethical design guidelines.
Winners receive an embossed Certificate of Excellence for each piece selected and become eligible for reproduction in Graphic Design USA's Awards Annual, seen by over 100,000 colleagues and clients each year.
Waterman is commercial art major with a concentration in graphic designs from Lebanon.
