A week ago today, my friend Ryan died. I had never lost a friend before. I wasn't sure what to say or think. I felt disoriented for days. I had to go to class, work and fulfill other duties, but it was like my ears were ringing from an M-80 that exploded too close to my head.

Editor,
The appearance of the latest article by Matt Combes has led me to finally make some statement regarding the content of the Collegian.
I can understand why those who are experiencing "journalistic freedom" for the first time would feel the need to push the envelope, but I cannot understand why the Collegian feels the need to repeatedly publish such disgusting articles related to sexual behavior.

God bless Adam Rice.
Dear Beta, I hope you like your rock's makeover. Love, Sigma Pi.
They just played the unedited version of "Sexy Can I" in the Derb, and I loved it.
I work at a gas station, and a teenage mother just came in and tried to buy cigarettes and blunt wraps with a food stamp card.

Rep. Steve King has long been, like Slipknot and jokes about corn, one of the most embarrassing things about being from Iowa. He has made himself one of the most quotable right-wing zealots in Congress, from his comparison of illegal immigrants to stray cats to his recent assertion that Al Qaeda would "dance in the streets" if Barack Obama is elected president. His public statements underline a voting record that is among the most conservative in the nation. He opposes equal rights for gays and lesbians and consistently votes against life-saving stem-cell research.

It's traditional this time of year, when many of you are about to leave the comforting embrace of the university community and head off into what we euphemistically call the "real world," for those of us with more than 21 or 22 years under our belts (or wherever we keep them - pesky things, those years, which is probably something you should remember but no doubt won't, human beings being what they are) to offer some glimmerings of advice.

Levi Bulgar said he's bringing back the Summer Senate.
As student body president elect, he has a great idea. However, more initiative needs to be taken to ensure the success of this plan, and Bulgar himself needs to set bigger goals for himself.
The organization stems from the executive board and their cooperation would set precedence for other members.

This semester has been a stressful one. Long hours and late nights have consumed my life, but I wouldn't trade the experience I gained. I've thought a lot about what I would write in my last column. My intention was always to address my last column as Editor in Chief to everyone I love, because I couldn't have survived this semester without them.

I just saw a cop drive by talking on his cell phone. Way to lead by example.
Fourum, I just saw a lady on a tricycle with a dog in a basket on the back. Have we not talked about this before?
Brett King's recipes are worthless. They're neither quick nor healthy.

Four years ago, I wrote in The Surveyor, my high-school newspaper, of my time spent at George Washington Senior High School. I remembered fondly the teachers, peers, and experiences of my high school career.
Don't expect the same in this column.

I always had faith in Kansas. But maybe I'd just bought into the clichés, the idea of the homey heartland chock full of salt-of-the-earth types, tall green grass, chicken hawks, coyote and a night sky that could swallow a person whole. When I told folks back home in St.
